Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce has called on members of the local community to show their support for Australia Day.
“Australia Day is a day for all Australians, and it should be celebrated,” Mr Boyce said.
“Sadly, a day that should unite Australians as we celebrate our achievements and shared values is being undermined by the Albanese Labor Government.
“Little by little the Albanese Labor Government is making Australia Day less special. They have given the green light to councils to cancel citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day and the Prime Minister’s hand-picked ambassador to the United Kingdom has cancelled a long-running Australia Day charity event.
“What message does it send to new citizens and our children when the Federal Government is too embarrassed to celebrate Australia Day?
“We are a great nation, and we should celebrate. If the Australian public doesn’t stand up for Australia Day, the Labor Government will abolish it.
“That’s why I’m calling on all members of the Flynn electorate, who are proud to be called Australian to send an email to the Prime Minister and your nearest Labor MP to tell them you reject their attacks on our national day.”
