As we approach National Volunteer Week (18–24 May 2026), I would like to shine a spotlight on our local volunteer heroes and recognise the invaluable contributions they make to our communities. While it can be difficult to single individuals out, there may be someone within your organisation who consistently goes above and beyond and deserves special recognition.
Whether it’s a long-standing member marking a significant milestone, a newcomer who has stepped up with enthusiasm, or a quiet achiever working behind the scenes, we invite nominations for these outstanding individuals to receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
Nominate your local heroes via the application form:
https://form.jotform.com/261062987232863
Certificates will be sent to community groups for presentation to recipients. For those in the Gladstone, Emerald, and Gayndah, certificates will be available for collection from my office in these areas.
I also encourage all volunteer organisations to take the time during National Volunteer Week to recognise and thank all of their volunteers. Resources and certificates to support your celebrations can be accessed at https://volunteeringqld.org.au/initiatives/national-volunteer-week/
Please note: nominees must reside within the Flynn Electorate, and to maintain the prestige of the awards, each organisation may submit a maximum of five nominations per year.
Nominations close 31 May 2026.
