Gladstone Hospital Petition

Representing Flynn in the Federal Parliament

The electorate of Flynn is over 132,000 square kilometres and is almost twice the size of Tasmania.

It stretches from the Central Highlands to the West, Gracemere to the North, Gladstone to the East and Wondai to the South while taking in the towns in between.

I drive over 50,000 kilometres a year staying in touch with our local communities and spend around 20 weeks in Canberra representing you in Parliament.

My electorate offices are open in the following locations to service the large Flynn electorate:

  • 76 Goondoon Street, Gladstone QLD 4680
  • 2/115 Egerton Street, Emerald QLD 4720
  • 39 Capper Street, Gayndah QLD 4625

I’m committed to taking Flynn forward.

Labor is making it harder to get food from paddock to plate for farmers across this country and especially in my electorate of Flynn.

Since Labor took office two year ago. This is what we’ve seen:

❌ Changes to the PALM Scheme that has made it harder for farmers to source workers;

❌ Proposed and ditched a fresh food tax which would force farmers to pay for the biosecurity costs of their international competitors;

❌ Cut and run with funding for nation building water infrastructure.

I attended the Local Government Association of Queensland's (LGAQ) annual breakfast in Canberra this week. The event holds significant importance for Queensland delegates attending the Australian Local Government Association's National General Assembly (ALGA NGA).

Always great to catch up with representatives from North Burnett Regional Council and South Burnett Regional Council!

I’m aware that the Centrelink Agency at Blackwater is currently unavailable to customers needing to visit the Service Centre so I’ve been in contact with the Minister for Government Services, Bill Shorten MP regarding its status.

The Minister’s Department is currently exploring the option of a Mobile Service Centre to visit Blackwater while a new host agent is being sought.

Should you require Centrelink assistance please go to www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/
or telephone 132307 Online Services Support Hotline.

Inflation in Australia is high and rising, putting pressure on household budgets and forcing families to make tough decisions.

The Coalition will get Australia back on track and stand up for small businesses, farmers, and consumers by delivering stronger penalties for anti-competitive behaviour in Australia’s supermarket sector.

The Coalition will strengthen the Food and Grocery Code by making it mandatory for supermarkets with annual turnover of more than $5 billion. This captures all of the current signatories - Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and Metcash.

We will also:

- Increase penalties for breaches of the code
- Create a Supermarket Commissioner to act as an impartial confidential avenue for farmers and suppliers to have their grievances heard.

The Coalition will also introduce sector-specific divestiture powers as a last resort to manage supermarket behaviour and address supermarket price-gouging.

This is part of the Coalition’s plan to get Australia’s economy back on track.
